The Africa Yoga Project edu­cates, empow­ers, ele­vates and expands employ­a­bil­i­ty with youth in Africa using the trans­for­ma­tion­al prac­tice of yoga. Their vision is to cre­ate oppor­tu­ni­ties for youth to step into their great­ness and become self-sus­tain­ing  lead­ers in their communities.

Banana House & Well­ness Cen­tre came about when Moni­ka felt she need­ed to give some­thing back to the island and its inhab­i­tants who had giv­en her so much. She want­ed to offer Lamu a cen­tre where peo­ple from all reli­gions and cul­tur­al tra­di­tions who are curi­ous, inter­est­ed and open to expe­ri­ence the beau­ty of life, are able to learn, share and take respon­si­bil­i­ty for our world and environment.

Safari Doc­tors was reg­is­tered as a com­­mu­ni­­ty-based orga­ni­za­tion in Lamu, Kenya in 2015. Their ded­i­cat­ed team works tire­less­ly to improve access to health ser­vices for mar­gin­al­ized, indige­nous com­mu­ni­ties. In 2017, the UN in Kenya award­ed the Safari Doc­tors team the Unit­ed Nations Per­son of the Year award, “for the out­stand­ing efforts and com­mend­able work pro­vid­ing med­ical care to mar­gin­al­ized com­mu­ni­ties in the far reach­ing areas of Lamu.”
