PARTNERS & SPONSORS
About Us
The Lamu Yoga Festival, established by Monika Fauth of Banana House and Wellness Center in Shela, has grown into a prominent event due to Lamu’s unique combination of lifestyle, natural beauty, and local charm. This setting creates an ideal escape from the pressures of modern life.
The festival attracts a diverse group of participants, drawing not only from East Africa but also welcoming yogis and instructors from all over the globe who come to experience this wellness celebration.
In addition to a variety of yoga sessions held at different studios and locations in Lamu, Shela, and Manda, the festival features a range of other enriching activities.
The 10th edition of the Lamu Yoga Festival this year includes meditation and breathing workshops, a traditional dhow sail, various interactive workshops, and a feast of Swahili cuisine. The event will culminate in a final beach party with entertainment. With such a wide array of activities, the festival truly offers something for everyone.
Wellness
Creating an appreciation for yoga and the general awareness of the benefits of healthier lifestyles is one of the top goals of the festival.
Culture
Without the stress and rush of modern life, it’s easy to feel a million miles away on the beautiful, car-free island of Lamu. The flavorful and delicious Swahili cuisine is part of the reason Lamu is known as Kenya’s health and wellness destination.
Community Impact
The festival raises funds to cover a full year stipend for a local teacher to offer free classes for young women and children in the village. We also raise funds for re-usable sanitary pad drives for women and young girls in need in Lamu and the Kenyan coast.
Why Sponsor Us?
Ten years down the line, the festival has become a very sought after event, attracting a global audience. We have recently been voted one of the best yoga festivals to travel for in the world by the Yoga Jounal.
As we continue spreading the joy of yoga, we want to give back to the community, through our various activities, many of them specifically empowering and uplifting young girls and women on the island. Your support will allow us to continue this work sustainably for many years to come.
